Could this be a brother of John 1783 and/or could this be the BEARDER who married Prescilla and then went off to be a soldier?

Interesting, but typically annoying as the vital pieces of information, such as birth place, and in the second instance, grooms previous wifes name, are missing. Do we assume that the 2 references are about the same Thomas?

Priscilla had heard her husband Thomas was dead, but he could have conveniently disappeared to India.

What is interesting is that he clearly stayed in India after the marriage.  It is a shame we don't have more details.  But worth keeping in mind for the future. This FIBIS indicates that the church records for much of India are to be digitised and should be available online from early 2012 through findmypast.co.uk

Does anyone know what happened to Priscilla after the deposition found by Sue?

FmP has 2 new sections: Armed forces and Overseas BMDs. I searched the Armed forces, all regions, B 1761- 1860 and M or D 1796 - 1860 for Bearder and came up with 0 M or D, but 4 B:
Eliza 1825, John 1827, Sarah 1827 and William 1830 in Madras! These are GRO Army Chaplains Birth Indeces, with no data other than a page number. However, it it difficult to believe this is all coincidence.
Searches of the Overseas index gave no result.
